The Challenge

For this project, I was tasked to create a biography for a new musical artist in LA named Karen. It was created to inform the public about Karen’s life so far, specifically, people who had heard of her or her music and wanted to know more about who Karen was. The biography went through two iterations. The first iteration was a long, in-depth biography that later became half as long to accommodate it being put on a website.

First Iteration

The biography I initially had to go off of consisted of two poorly written emails which I then sifted through and rewrote. In the first iteration, I included almost all of the content I had to go off of, except for some parts that were repetitive or contradicting. To start off with iteration, I took both emails in their entirety and rewrote them to make sense grammatically. Then, I rearranged various sections so that the biography would flow better, and I removed any sentences that were repetitive or confusing.

Second Iteration

For the second iteration, I trimmed the biography to only include the main points, with most of the filler phrases removed. I decided what information to include in my last iteration based on what I thought the average person would want to know about Karen, therefore getting rid of any fillers or irrelevant thoughts. This was mainly where I thought about the rhetorical situation and revised areas that held less important information.

Skills

This project displays my ability to rewrite a document and turn it into something that made sense both logically and grammatically. Additionally, I was able to revise my own work to condense it and cater it towards a specific platform and audience.
