User Survey
The Challenge
The purpose of this project was to create a user survey for Community Health Partnership (CHP) - an organization whose goal is to help uninsured and underinsured members of the community access free and affordable health services. This was created in order to help them better understand how to reach their users. We assessed who the average user of CHP was and what they used CHP for. Using this information to guide us, we created a survey to determine what communication outlet would be most effective for CHP to use so that they could reach the most people.
Users
We began by meeting with a representative from CHP to determine their needs and expectations. From this interview and further demographic research, we crafted a user persona to represent CHP’s primary client base. The user persona consolidates the typical characteristics of a client into a single user so that developers can understand their perceptions.
User Journey Map
After creating the user persona, we created a user journey map to track the process and general mindset of our users. Journey maps are based on fictional scenarios that are used to show what the average user might do and how they might interact with a company or product. Journey maps also help designers think through the mind of the user and identify possible issues with a product. We used this to determine specific questions to include in our final user survey.
User Survey
Using the user persona and user journey map, we created a 19 question survey that asked users about their demographics, the formats - print, web, mobile, etc. - they are most comfortable with, and how likely they would be to use CHP’s services. The collected results of this survey gives CHP a better understanding of who their user base is and what formats would be best to use when reaching out to their users.
Skills
This project displays my ability to collaborate effectively within a team to create multiple related documents. Throughout this project, I continuously met with my team to discuss design and content, as well as create all of the final documents. We were also able to create each document in a cohesive way rather than a hodgepodge of each of our individual design styles. Additionally, there was a great deal of communication involved in this project, both between team members and between the team and our client. We kept communication consistent and responded to any messages quickly.
